Biography

Here's some facts about me...and all of the roles I have and hats I wear....

I'm pretty much just a small town girl who followed her dreams

I am madly in love with my husband and completely head-over-heels when it comes to my incredibly wonderful 5 children

I love to connect with others...I just really really really LOVE people

I was born in 1971 in Nampa, Idaho…the 6th of 9 children

I am a 4th generation Idahoan and graduated from the same high school that my grandparents & my mother graduated from; with a whopping 28 people in my graduating class.

I started my business, Chatterbox, in 1997 when I was 25, from my kitchen table...

I have been an artist since I was old enough to hold a pencil and have giddily watched my childhood artist dreams come true

I have been married for 16 years to my high-school sweetheart....we will be rocking our grandbabies together someday on our front porch.....

Our 5 children fill our 100 year old farm house with love & laughter

I am the author of 8 books...and counting

I own 97 pairs of shoes that I love but I still prefer my bare feet

My childhood nicknames were “Motor-Mouth” and “Chatterbox” but Chatterbox made a much better business name…and, it seems I still have a lot to say

I was one of 3 finalists for the 2005 Business Woman of the Year from the National Association of Women Business Owners

I have been a guest on QVC, HSN, DIY and the Carol Duvall Show

I have a weakness for a good crème brulee

I read 3-5 books at a time and even remember some of what I have read

I am the winner of the 2006 Alfred P. Sloan Award

I prefer a room full of sofas to a conference room…in fact, our conference room IS a room full of sofas

I regularly contribute to several magazines

I love unique and authentic things – especially unique and authentic people

I speak and train organizations regularly about leadership, teamwork & finding your personal mission

I have had many victories, but never without struggles on the way... I believe in getting back up when you get knocked down.

I have been featured in many magazines and newspapers including: Entrepreneur, Martha Stewart, Women’s Day and BHG

I run at 5am every morning after I hit the snooze button approximately 19 times

I love New York City almost as much as Boise, Idaho

I just made it through 3 very painful years of taking care of my husband after a traumatic brain injury. He is doing so much better…thank your for asking.

I have an MBA and a PHD, with honors, from the School of Hard Knocks. I return from time to time for continuing education.
